The Tree Poem
I want to chase my dog through mountains high,
And count the flowers on the way.
I want to lose my sanity in my senses every second of today.
I want to lie in bubble baths, and put lotion on my skin.
I want to celebrate the body my soul is redising in.
I want to devour every moment that Life has breathed into my lungs.
I want to eat this gift of love for earth and self that has begun.
And not a selfish taking lust -- an insatiable kind of grabbing.
Not a taking for a selfish needy empty lacking.
This love for life and self -- it's a deep respect for inner worth;
A majestic reverence for the beauty of a spirit moving through everything on earth.
And when I honor me, I honor YOU.
I care, and give, and glow.
Because my needs are satisfied with Love and Life;
good things begin to grow.
We are the trees of Life, my friends. So water your roots well.
Give sunshine to your leaves, and protect your veins from parasitic Hell.
The Ying and Yang is needed; hardships make for steady trunks.
A tree that doesn't love all its parts will bend in wind...
Will fall in storm...
And die in time...
But a tree that welcomes wind and rain, sun and snow, love and death, will live forever...
love, Rachel
